Due to weather conditions (gale warning) there was no Opening day racing. However we did not let that dampen the spirit of HYC.... instead Pete and Blair used some HYC ingenuity!!! Take two drainpipes filled with water, tin foil, drinking straws, paper, tape and food wrap and hey presto! boat building followed by very competitive match racing. Crews were made up of four members who designed and built their boats, and then used lung power to propel the crafts up and down the drainpipe course! Great fun for everyone involved & the floor got a good clean in the process. Unfortunately there could only be one winner - well done Team Water Witch designed by Gary Matthews!! (Gary's craft was a simple design compared with "team oracle" - however due to it's light weight design there was no stopping Water Witch) And then there was the pizza - which was fabulous! Thank you to Jo Howley for organizing the oven and toppings. Thank you to Corina, Sharon, Mark J, David for being the chefs and to Stephen for being in charge of the oven. Also a big thank you to everyone else who helped make Opening day a huge success!! |
