Junior sailing 11th June 2016

Well after the week of bad weather leading up to the junior sailing we were greeted with a beautiful morning with light winds.
It was an all girl affair, with Brooke, Alice, Mackenzie in the opti's and Emma in the starling.
We got the boats out and rigged up with help from the parents. We laid a course, then got the girls launched and out sailing.
Once they were sailing course we introduced the SPONGE! for a game of sponge tag.

The kids had great delight to chasing each other down and trying to squeeze every little bit of speed out of their boats in order to throw the cold wet sponge at each other.

This is a good game, apart from the close quarters sailing bit.....but it's good in respect that they have to do a lot of tacks, gybes and picking the sponge up out of the water, sailing faster to catch someone or slowing the boat down.

I asked the kids once we'd tidied up and put the boats away if they had any questions, Mackenzie put her hand up and said
"Can we play sponge tag again"
I think there is unfinished business out on the water...

So all and all it was a fun successful morning on the water.

Look forward to seeing all your smiling faces down there this Saturday the 25th @  9:30am

Andy
