We had 7x boats out on the water and keeping with the theme of previous race days, it was typically Upper Harbour tricky/shifty 8-15 knots. Close racing was again enjoyed by the sailors, although it unfortunately ended up being a day of gear breakage, but that’s racing! In the Opti’s Astin and Jackson shared each race, Kieran won both races in the Starlings and Tamas &Taylor and Grace &Sean shared races in the bigger Dinghies. It was great to see Jackson out on the water and with Kiera likely back next time, it would be great to see a couple more Opti sailors on the water. There were a couple of gear breakages on the water and Kieran had some issues with the boat taking on water. This impacted the last race results, but Kieran’s recovery after starting 2 minutes behind to win was well done. The issues in the last race resulted in a few ‘Pirates" of the Day’ presented at the post race prize giving. Big thanks to Gill, Colin and Colart who assisted on the day to run the racing from the towerand on the water. Also a thanks to Dean and Justin for helping on the ramp. The next race day is Sunday 23rd August 2020; Race 7 & 8. It is a different time from last race day 8am sheds open, for a 10am start. We will have a briefing at 9am, all to attend and be on time. Following racing we will have our race results briefing 30 mins after the last boat, including the Safety boats, are back at the HYC compound. It was thought yesterday that it was going to be a later start time but Sean got this wrong. The tides are not in our favour for a Sunday sleep in until the last race of the winter series! Again would be great to please see a bigger turn out. Let’s hope the weather is good again! Results Race 5: 1. Tamas & Taylor 2. Grace & Sean Munro Race 6: 1. Grace & Sean Munro 2.
