Race Report from Eye Spy

The NOR for the Wayward said we were probably going to Rocky Bay.

This was not the case as the wind had swung back to the SW. Owhanakei (Cable Bay) was the destination. After a reasonable start we settled down for what was becoming “the norm”, a battle with BlueBeat. I have Rae on board. He is Lisa’s Dad, who is mad keen on sailing and the 88 was probably about the 6th different boat he raced on in his 3 week stay here in NZ (flew over from Scotland).

The two 88s swapped places a few times but a spinnaker sheet coming loose on BlueBeat near Bean Rock saw Eye Spy take the lead and hold it to the finish. There may have only been three boats in the race but could not have gotten better conditions. Thanks to Renaissance and BlueBeat for a great race. Thanks to Rae for helming Eye Spy.

Point to note……….we had a number of other boats from the club who made the effort to come and socialise which made for quite a night.(had to ensure I wrote quite and not quiet).

See you all on the next race.
